Friday Tasting: Rhône Whites, Highland Tequila, and the Bitter You've Been Missing

Every Friday from 5 to 8pm, we open bottles and pour free tastes for anyone who walks through the door at 1128 W Armitage Ave. No ticket, no reservation, no catch. Just good stuff in your glass and someone who can tell you exactly why it's worth drinking.

This Friday we're pulling three bottles that don't have a lot in common — except that they're all genuinely excellent and worth your time.

Les Clefs du Caladas Côtes du Rhône — $25

This is the kind of Rhône that makes you question why you'd ever spend more. Garrigues, dark fruit, a little pepper on the finish — it's got personality without trying too hard. If you've been sleeping on southern French wine, this is a good place to wake up. And at $25, you can drink it on a Tuesday without thinking twice.

Cascahuin Tequila Blanco — $55

Cascahuin is a fourth-generation distillery in El Arenal, Jalisco, and they've been doing it right since 1904. This blanco is bright, herbal, and clean with real agave character — the kind of tequila that makes you realize most of what you've been drinking wasn't trying that hard. Sip it neat. You'll understand immediately.

Fernet Branca — $45

The bartender's handshake, the digestif that earns its reputation. Fernet Branca is bitter, complex, and not for everyone — but if it's for you, it's really for you. Twenty-seven herbs, aged in oak, made the same way since 1845. We'll pour it straight so you can meet it properly.

Three bottles, three completely different categories, one Friday evening. That's kind of the point — Off Premise has always been about curiosity over category.
