This Friday we're opening three bottles that cover serious ground — a highland tequila built for sipping, a bitter that's earned its cult status, and a Châteauneuf-du-Pape that punches well above its price. Come taste all three, free of charge, no ticket required. Just show up between 5 and 8PM.
Cascahuin is a family-owned distillery in El Arenal, Jalisco, and one of the most respected names in traditional tequila production. This blanco is unaged and uncut in character — bright citrus, white pepper, cooked agave with a clean, mineral finish. If you think you don't love tequila, this is the bottle that changes your mind.
The bartender's handshake. The digestivo that's been going since 1845. Fernet Branca is a blend of 27 herbs and spices — saffron, myrrh, chamomile, rhubarb, among others — and it tastes exactly as complex as that sounds. Bitter, mentholated, deeply aromatic. Love it or hate it, you need to have an opinion on it. Friday's your chance to form one.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the Southern Rhône's crown jewels, and Les Clefs du Caladas delivers all that big, sun-baked Grenache-driven richness you want from the appellation — dark fruit, garrigue, cracked pepper, a long warm finish. At $55, it's an honest entry point into serious French wine.
Every Friday from 5 to 8PM, we open bottles and pour tastes for free. No event ticket, no reservation, no catch. Just come by 1128 W Armitage Ave in Lincoln Park, grab a glass, and let's talk through what's in it.
