Château Saint-Sulpice "Esprit de Saint-Sulpice" Bordeaux Blanc

$24.00
Since 1710, the Dubergé family has grown vines across eleven generations at Château Saint-Sulpice, a estate in the village of Saint-Sulpice-et-Cameyrac in the northern Entre-Deux-Mers, just south of Saint-Émilion, where the soils and climate closely resemble those of neighboring Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. Christophe Dubergé, continuing his father Pierre's work, oversees this white cuvée as a personal selection alongside the estate's better-known reds. The wine is a blend of roughly 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sémillon, grown on clay-loam soils that bring out Sauvignon Blanc's fruit and aromatic expression while the loam contributes freshness. Grapes are harvested for aromatic ripeness, pressed gently after light skin maceration, and fermented at cool temperatures to preserve thiol-driven aromatics, then aged in stainless steel on the lees, with regular stirring, to build texture without oak influence. In the glass, expect pale yellow color with green reflections, and an aromatic, expressive nose running from citrus (lime, lemon, grapefruit) into honeysuckle and tropical notes of mango and pineapple. The palate is dry, full-flavored, and mineral-driven, with bright acidity carrying through to a long finish.
