*Off Premise Wine Club Pick* The de Conti family has been farming their beautiful Bergerac estate since the early 1900s, but when brothers Luc and Jean planted vineyards in 1986, they sparked a new chapter. By 1994, they became the first in the region to embrace fully organic viticulture, a bold move that has defined their winemaking ever since. Today, Château Tour des Gendres is a household name on French wine lists, yet remains a hidden gem in the United States. The Cantalouette Rouge is a vibrant expression of their limestone and clay terroir, blending 50% Merlot, 25% Malbec, and 25% Cabernet Franc. Hand-harvested grapes are destemmed and fermented in stainless steel with a 20-day maceration, then aged on lees with no added SO2. The result is a wine that's approachable and seriously delicious: bright red and black fruits (think gooseberry, blackcurrant, and dark cherry), with hints of dried herbs and raw chocolate. The palate is fresh and juicy with soft, balanced tannins and a peppery lift that keeps you coming back for another sip.
