The Madre project began with mezcal production in Oaxaca, where the founders developed relationships with traditional palenqueros and learned small-batch distillation methods that emphasize terroir and raw material. That same reverence for agave carries into the tequila program, where the goal is to let the plant speak for itself without glycerin, caramel color, or oak extract. The tequila is produced using stone ovens or autoclaves that preserve agave sugars, wild or cultivated yeast fermentation, and copper pot distillation.
