Maxico Mistico 'Licor Llevame Lejos' Ginger-Turmeric Liqueur

$30.00
Maxico Mistico is a niche Mexican spirits house from Casa Endémica in Guadalajara, crafted by master distiller Samuel Ruiz, rooted in the country's shamanic and herbal healing traditions. Each liqueur in the line is built through individual botanical extraction, infusing roots and spices separately before blending, an artisanal, ritual-inspired approach adapted for the modern palate. Llévame Lejos, meaning "take me far," is a spiced roots-and-seeds liqueur built from ginger, turmeric, coriander seeds, and cardamom, with each ingredient extracted in isolation before a month of maceration and final blending. It's conceived as a kind of sensory journey, meant, in the brand's own poetic framing, to relax the mind and body and carry the drinker from the mundane toward the divine. In the glass, expect a rich golden-yellow color drawn naturally from the whole turmeric and ginger roots. The nose opens with layered dry root spice, a touch of citrus peel, and a faint hint of icing sugar. On the palate, look for warm ginger heat and turmeric depth, softened by coriander and cardamom, all balanced by a distinctive herbal dryness reminiscent of a spiced Mexican amaro. It finishes clean, lightly medicinal, and persistently complex, with lingering pepper, musk, and citrus notes. Best served chilled, neat or over a single large ice cube, it also shines stirred into sparkling wine, ginger beer, or citrus-forward juices, and adds real depth to spice-driven cocktails like a turmeric gimlet or ginger-sage spritz. A genuinely distinctive, small-batch discovery for adventurous drinkers looking to move beyond standard amaro or bitters territory.
