MXRUMS Toquecito — Satvrnal (Pedro Andrés + Jorge Nájera)

The spiritual successor to Melaza con Muck — Pedro Andrés and Jorge Nájera's pot-still molasses rum from Satvrnal in Zapopan, Jalisco. Three-barrel blend: two barrels aged two years in ex-bourbon casks then rested an additional eleven months in open-top demijohns; the third barrel is young-muck pot still rum spent five months in an American oak ex-rum cask. "Un toquecito" — a little touch — of age. Aroma: grilled pineapple, cherry slushee, carpenter glue, cherry skin. Palate: crystallized brown sugar, almond butter, over-baked pineapple upside-down cake, mid-palate warmth, a hint of menthol on a slightly-dry finish.
