Planet Oregon Pinot Noir Oregon
$25.00
Planet Oregon Pinot Noir is a multi-vineyard expression from Oregon's Willamette Valley that showcases the state's signature cool-climate grace without the weight or oak that can dominate single-site bottlings. The wine is made by Raúl Beltrán and Cameron Smith, who source fruit from both sides of the valley to capture the bright acidity and mineral tension that define Oregon Pinot Noir at its most approachable. Lincoln Park drinkers looking for red Burgundy character at a gentler price point will find the balance here. Raúl and Cameron farm vineyards across the Willamette Valley's Jory and Willakenzie soils, the volcanic red and sedimentary marine deposits that give Oregon Pinot its signature snap and salinity. The fruit is fermented with native yeasts in small lots and aged in neutral French oak to preserve the fruit and mineral core rather than layering on new-wood vanilla. The result is a Pinot Noir that tastes like place and vintage, not cellar technique. The project began as a collaboration between longtime friends who wanted to make honest, transparent wine without the ceremony. The nose opens with mint, saline, and fresh dark raspberry—an herbal lift that feels more like summer in the Pacific Northwest than Napa opulence. The palate follows with boysenberry, orange peel, and dark chocolate, supported by integrated tannins and a texture that glides across the tongue without grip or heat. Tingly acidity keeps the wine light on its feet, making it a natural pairing for grilled salmon, roasted chicken, or mushroom risotto. Serve it with a slight chill—around 60 degrees—to emphasize the saline and fruit rather than the tannin. This is a wine that rewards casual weeknight drinking as much as it does thoughtful pairing.
