Tenuta Buon Tempo Rosso di Montalcino 2024

$38.00
Tenuta Buon Tempo sits in the far south of the Montalcino zone, near Castelnuovo dell'Abate, framed by the Tuscan Anti-Apennines and the towering Monte Amiata, with the hill of Montalcino behind it. The estate is owned by Per and Janet Landin, Swedish wine lovers who fell for the area's tranquility and named the property for that sense of well-being, "Buon Tempo." It covers 28 hectares, 14 of them under vine, and has been certified organic since 2018. Day-to-day management is led by Alberto Machetti, working with consulting oenologist Attilio Pagli and agronomist Stefano Bartolomei. Southern Montalcino is warmer and sunnier than the north, giving Sangiovese with generous fruit and solid structure. For the Rosso, the estate aims for a fresh, juicy, everyday style. The wine is 100% Sangiovese, macerated on the skins for about two weeks, settled naturally, and rested in bottle for at least four months before release. Tasting notes: Bright red cherry and raspberry, with notes of forest floor, licorice, a touch of leather, and warm spice. The palate is medium-bodied and juicy, with lively acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a savory, satisfying finish. It's often called a "baby Brunello," with the estate's signature character in a younger, more approachable form.
