Privacy Policy

Off Premise Chicago ("we," "us," "our") is the bottle shop at 1128 W Armitage Ave, Chicago IL 60614. This page explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• Email address — when you sign up for our newsletter, place an order, join the waitlist, refer a friend, subscribe to a club, or use any other email-required feature on the site.
• Name and shipping/billing address — for orders that require pickup, delivery, or shipping.
• Phone number — optional, used for order pickup notifications and delivery dispatch.
• Payment information — processed and stored by Square. We never see or store your full card number; Square handles all payment data per PCI-DSS.
• Order history — items you've ordered, fulfillment method, total spend. Stored in Square's customer records.
• Browse and device data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, products viewed. Used for analytics and to prevent abuse (rate limiting, vulnerability-scanner blocking).
• Cookies — session cookies for cart and login state, age-gate confirmation, marketing tracking. See "Cookies" below.

How we use it

We use the information to:

• Process your orders and deliver them to you
• Send you transactional emails (order confirmations, pickup notifications, shipping updates)
• Send marketing emails when you've opted in (newsletters, restock alerts, club communications) — you can unsubscribe at any time
• Operate club subscriptions (auto-billing through Square)
• Improve the site (anonymized analytics)
• Respond to your questions when you reach out
• Verify legal age for alcohol purchases
• Prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents

Who we share it with

We share your information only with the third parties needed to operate the shop:

• Square — payment processing, customer records, inventory, subscriptions
• DoorDash Drive — local delivery dispatch (when you order delivery)
• Google Analytics & Google Search Console — anonymized site analytics
• Gmail (SMTP) — transactional and marketing emails
• Anthropic — AI features (gift concierge, admin analysis) when you use them. Only the data you provide in the request is sent; we never share your purchase history with Anthropic.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your email with third-party advertisers.

Cookies

We use cookies for:

• Strictly necessary — cart contents, login session, age-gate, CSRF protection. Required for the site to function.
• Functional — remembering preferences (recently viewed products, favorite categories)
• Analytics — Google Analytics for understanding how the site is used. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

You can clear cookies in your browser at any time. Doing so will sign you out and clear your cart.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

• Access the personal information we have about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Opt out of marketing emails (every email has an unsubscribe link)
• Opt out of the sale of personal data — we don't sell, but we honor opt-out requests anyway

Age requirement

You must be 21 or older to use this site. We verify your age with an age gate on first visit. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21, and we will delete any data we discover was provided by a minor.

Data retention

Customer records are kept as long as your account is active or as needed to comply with legal obligations (Illinois requires retention of alcohol sales records for several years). Marketing email lists are kept until you unsubscribe.

Security

We use HTTPS site-wide. Payment data is handled by Square per PCI-DSS standards. Customer accounts use email-based magic-link authentication (no passwords to leak). Admin access is restricted by API key + IP allowlist.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date and (for substantive changes affecting active users) email you a heads-up.
