2024 Domaine de Figueirasse Rose 750ml
$15.00
The 2024 Domaine de Figueirasse Rosé comes from one of the Languedoc's most compelling organic estates, where Jean-Pierre Venture and his family have been farming twenty-five hectares in the La Clape appellation since the 1970s. This is serious Mediterranean rosé: not the pale Provence style everyone copies, but something with more grip and personality, rooted in the garrigue-covered limestone slopes between Narbonne and the sea. Figueirasse works primarily with old-vine Grenache Noir, Cinsault, and Syrah, farmed organically since long before it was fashionable. The vines see intense sun exposure tempered by maritime winds from the Gulf of Lion, and the resulting fruit has concentration without heaviness. The 2024 vintage captures that balance—bright red berry notes, white pepper, and a saline minerality that makes this more compelling than your average poolside sipper. There's texture here, a faint tannic structure that lets the wine hold up to actual food rather than just functioning as a cold pink drink. The family keeps winemaking straightforward: direct press, native yeast fermentation, minimal intervention. The result is a rosé that tastes like the place it comes from, with the wild herb and rocky character of La Clape baked into every glass. Think rosemary, thyme, and that specific Mediterranean scrubland scent that clings to your clothes after a hike. This works beautifully with grilled fish, especially oily varieties like sardines or mackerel. It's also a natural match for anything involving olive oil, tomatoes, and garlic—ratatouille, bouillabaisse, pan con tomate, that sort of thing. The wine has enough body to stand up to lamb merguez or a platter of charcuterie without getting overwhelmed. At Off Premise, we stock this because it's the kind of rosé that makes you reconsider what rosé can be. It's less about Instagram aesthetics and more about actual place, actual farming, actual flavor. The 2024 drinks well now and will hold through the year without losing its edge.
