2025 Tenuta delle Terre Nere Etna Rosato

$42.00
Made by Tenuta delle Terre Nere, widely regarded as the benchmark producer for Etna wine since Marc de Grazia founded the estate in 2002, this Rosato is crafted from Nerello Mascalese grown organically on Mount Etna's north-facing slope. The vines sit on volcanic ash, black pumice, and abundant volcanic rock at meaningful altitude, giving the wine a distinctive mineral backbone even in its lightest, most delicate expression. Consistent with the estate's signature style across its range, expect a pale, delicate pink-orange color, closer to a traditional Provençal pale rosé than the deeper "blush" style. Aromatically, look for fresh red berry (strawberry, wild raspberry), citrus zest, and delicate florals, layered with the estate's characteristic volcanic minerality and subtle smokiness. The palate should be light-bodied, crisp, and lively, with the bright acidity and fine, saline finish that runs through all of Terre Nere's wines, and a texture that echoes the transparency and precision found in the estate's Nerello Mascalese-based Rosso. Given the estate's approach across its portfolio, this is a rosé built more for structure and food-pairing versatility than sheer fruit-forward simplicity, well-suited to grilled fish, charcuterie, light pasta dishes, and Mediterranean cuisine generally. It should offer a genuine, terroir-driven taste of Etna in a lighter, warm-weather-friendly format.
