Alma Tepec Licor de Chile Pasilla Mixe

$44.00
Alma Tepec (meaning "mountain soul") is the world's first liqueur made from ancestral Pasilla Mixe (mee-hay) chiles, grown at 5,000 feet above sea level deep in the Sierra Norte mountains of Oaxaca by the indigenous Mixe people. The chiles are vine-ripened to a deep crimson, then smoke-dried for several days in traditional clay and bamboo earth ovens before being hand-inspected, cut, and macerated in sugarcane distillate for up to a year. The result is something genuinely unlike anything else on the shelf. Earthy and smoky on the nose with cocoa, dried red berries, toasted allspice and a hint of caramel. The chile comes through from start to finish, with dried fruit, clove, and a warm, lingering heat that builds without overwhelming. Lightly sweetened, full-proof, and endlessly versatile. Splash it into a Margarita, a Bloody Maria, or a Chelada, use it to split your base spirit, or just sip it on its own and let it do its thing.
