Giuseppe Savini "Rondineto" Pinot Grigio

From Fattoria Giuseppe Savini, a family estate founded in Abruzzo in 1949, this Pinot Grigio is grown on the estate's own vineyards in the hills of Morro d'Oro and Notaresco in the province of Teramo. The vines face south and southeast at about 250 meters, on calcareous clay soils between the Apennines and the Adriatic. The grapes are pressed gently and fermented cool (about 17°C) in stainless steel, then rested in tank to keep the fruit fresh and bright. No oak is used. Tasting notes: Straw yellow with golden highlights. The nose shows ripe golden apple and pear, with lemon zest and a subtle hint of spice. The palate is fresh and soft, easy-drinking, with a light mineral touch and a clean, citrusy finish.
