Uco Deus Malbec

$22.00
Uco Deus sources its fruit from a 77-hectare vineyard in Paraje Altamira, within the Valle de Uco of Mendoza, Argentina, one of the most highly regarded high-altitude sub-regions for Malbec today. The vines, some around 30 years old, are planted at roughly 1,100 meters above sea level on rocky, calcareous soils, and the site's wide diurnal temperature swings between hot days and cool nights help preserve freshness and aromatic intensity in the fruit. The wine is made with a low-intervention, "natural" philosophy: after a prolonged, cool-temperature maceration to extract color and flavor gently, it's aged for about eight months in large concrete eggs rather than oak, then bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve purity of fruit. In the glass, expect a deep purple color true to the grape. The nose offers cherry, blackberry, and blueberry fruit, layered with floral notes and a peppery, spiced edge of cardamom and clove. On the palate it's soft, plush, and generously textured, with the fruit-forward richness typical of high-altitude Uco Valley Malbec, finishing dry and fruit-driven with a smooth, approachable structure.
