Vitae Springs Pinot Gris
$34.00
Visiting Vitae Springs was a highlight for me. It’s one of the youngest wineries we toured, and the winemakers themselves are among the youngest I’ve met in the Willamette Valley. While the region is known for both traditional and experimental styles, Vitae Springs is confidently embracing the “new wave,” exploring diverse grape varieties and innovative winemaking techniques that bring freshness, vibrancy, and energy to their wines. Their Pinot Gris is bright and zesty, with aromas of crisp pear, fresh citrus, white blossoms, and subtle hints of pineapple, honeycrisp apple, and beeswax. On the palate, lively acidity carries flavors of tart orange and lemon zest, evolving into a clean, bright finish with a delicate, playful touch. Fermented and aged for seven months in neutral French oak, it balances texture with refreshment beautifully. Vitae Springs Vineyard has deep roots and a rich history. Founded by Earl and Pam VanVolkinburg—whose passion for wine began while stationed in Germany’s Mosel Valley—the vineyard was planted with careful attention to soil, exposure, and elevation. Today, the second generation continues their legacy, managing the vineyard with a focus on regenerative, sustainable farming. Certified Organic, the vineyard nurtures its 50+ year-old self-rooted vines in a complex, living ecosystem, producing wines that are expressive, balanced, and true to the Willamette Valley terroir.
