2022 Stag's Leap Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon
$70.00
The 2022 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon is a fruit-forward Napa Valley expression built for immediate approachability without sacrificing structure. Stag's Leap Wine Cellars sources this blend from estate vineyards across Napa, including parcels in the benchmark Stag's Leap District, where volcanic soils and afternoon breezes temper the valley heat and preserve acidity in mountain-grown fruit. The 2022 vintage was warm and yielded concentrated flavors with ripe tannins, and this bottling captures that ripeness while maintaining balance. Stag's Leap Wine Cellars was founded in 1970 by Warren Winiarski and gained international recognition in 1976 when its 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon won the Judgment of Paris, placing Napa on the global wine map. Today the winery farms over 240 acres across multiple Napa appellations, and the Artemis bottling draws on that range of terroir to create a consistent, cellar-worthy Cabernet at a more accessible price point than the estate's single-vineyard wines. Fruit is fermented in stainless steel and aged in a combination of French and American oak, which contributes cedar and cocoa notes without overwhelming the dark fruit core. This Cabernet shows blackberry, cherry, and plum on the nose, with cocoa, cedar, and baking spice building as the wine opens. The tannins are fine-grained and integrated, making it approachable now but sturdy enough to evolve over the next five to seven years. Pair it with grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, or roasted lamb—anything with char and fat to complement the wine's weight and oak influence. It also works well with aged cheddar or mushroom-forward dishes that echo the earthy undertones. The 2022 Stag's Leap Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon is available at Off Premise in Lincoln Park for in-store pickup at 1128 W Armitage Ave, local Chicago delivery, or nationwide shipping.
