Domaine Vincent Paris Sélection Syrah

$28.00 · Sold out
Domaine Vincent Paris Sélection Syrah is 100% Syrah sourced from younger vines planted on alluvial soils covered in galets roulés just outside the Cornas AOC boundary, bottled under the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP designation. Vincent Paris established his domaine in 1997 in Cornas, and this entry-level bottling showcases the transparent, mineral-driven style that has made his upper-tier wines among the most celebrated in the Northern Rhône. The grapes are fully destemmed, fermented under temperature control, and aged in tank with no oak—a direct expression of Syrah without unnecessary weight. Vincent Paris acquired legendary old-vine parcels in Cornas from his uncle, the respected vigneron Robert Michel, including the storied La Geynale site, and has built a reputation for granite-driven Syrah that balances power with precision. The Sélection comes from vines planted on the valley floor outside the Cornas AOC limits, where the rounded river stones that define Rhône terroir absorb daytime heat and release it overnight, ensuring even ripening. The winemaking is minimal intervention: temperature-controlled fermentation preserves freshness, and tank aging keeps the focus on fruit purity and the peppery, floral lift that marks Northern Rhône Syrah at its best. The 2024 vintage is Syrah in its most joyful and direct form. The nose shows black pepper, violet, blackberry, and black olive, with that telltale granite minerality threading through. On the palate it's medium-bodied and vibrantly fresh, with supple tannins, lively acidity, and flavors of plum, sour cherry, and cracked black pepper running through to a clean, mineral finish. Drink it slightly chilled with grilled lamb chops, duck cassoulet, or a charcuterie board heavy on country pâté and cornichons. It's the kind of wine that works as well at a weeknight dinner as it does at a table with friends who care about what they're pouring. In stock at Off Premise in Lincoln Park.
