Domaine Vincent Paris Sélection Syrah

Vincent Paris established his domaine in 1997 in Cornas, one of the Northern Rhône's most celebrated appellations, and has spent the years since building a reputation as one of its most compelling producers. His holdings include exceptional old-vine granite parcels in Cornas, among them the legendary La Geynale vines acquired from his uncle, the respected vigneron Robert Michel. In recent vintages the domaine has reached a level of consistent excellence that places it firmly in the upper echelon of Northern Rhône Syrah. The Sélection Syrah is sourced from younger vines planted on alluvial soils just outside the Cornas AOC boundary, classified under the broader Collines Rhodaniennes IGP designation. The vineyard is covered with galets roulés, the rounded pebbles characteristic of the Rhône Valley, which absorb heat during the day and release it overnight, aiding even and thorough ripening. The wine is 100% destemmed, fermented under temperature control to preserve freshness and fruit purity, and aged in tank before bottling. No heavy oak, no excess weight. The 2024 is Syrah in its most direct and joyful form. The nose is peppery and floral, with juicy dark fruit, black olive, violet, and that telltale granite lift that marks the Northern Rhône. On the palate it is medium-bodied and vibrantly fresh, with supple tannins, lively acidity, and flavours of blackberry, plum, sour cherry, and cracked black pepper running through to a clean, mineral finish.
