Don Ciccio & Figli Amaro Tonico Ferro Kina

$40.00
Ferro-Kina was an aperitivo/amaro invented in 1881. History tells us that the inventors cooked the bark of cinchona on iron plates before macerating it. (Fun Fact: it was once produced as a supplement for iron deficiencies.) Francesco Amodeo's grandfather, Giovanni Porpora, one of the founding members of the family's distillery in Italy, formulated their very own Ferro-Kina recipe in 1967. Francesco produces it today following traditional methods, macerating the family's proprietary botanical blend in terracotta amphorae. The tonico highlights aromas of bitter lemon, china calisaya, gentiana lutea and iron citrate.
