Lost Lore Tequila Poca Madre Vol. 2 Reposado

Lost Lore Tequila "Poca Madre" Vol. 2 is a limited-edition reposado from Master Distiller Sergio Cruz at NOM 1414 — the Vivanco family's distillery in Arandas, Los Altos, Jalisco. Bottled at 48% ABV / 96 proof, this expression first rests in used American oak whiskey barrels and is then finished in French oak ex-port casks. The double-cask treatment layers two distinct profiles onto Lost Lore's signature additive-free Highlands agave: vanilla, toasted oak, and caramel from the American barrel, then dried-berry sweetness, dried fig, and a soft tannic grip from the port finish. "Poca Madre" — literally "little mother" — is the Vol. 2 release in Lost Lore's annual tribute series honoring family lineage and the matriarchs of Mexican agave traditions. Like every Lost Lore bottle it's independently certified additive-free by Tequila Matchmaker (no caramel coloring, no glycerin, no oak extract, no sugar-based sweeteners). Founder Arturo Lamas III commissions the Poca Madre series in small production runs that don't repeat exactly batch to batch — Vol. 2 is the second of these limited editions. On the palate, the cooked-agave core stays present throughout: bright citrus and pepper from the Highlands blue Weber, then warm vanilla and baking spice from the American oak, finishing on the port cask's dried fruit and a long, dry, mineral fade. The 96-proof bottling carries the layered flavor without water; a few drops opens up additional florals if you want them. Sip neat or over a single rock — this is a Reposado built to drink slowly and reward attention, not a cocktail base. Pair with grilled lamb, mole negro, dark chocolate, or a smoked-fruit dessert.
