Pasquale Pelissero "Pasqualin" Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 2024
$24.00
Pasquale Pelissero is a family estate in Neive, in the heart of the Barbaresco zone, now run by Ornella Pelissero. "Pasqualin" is named for her father, Pasquale, and is made the way he liked it: a traditional Langhe Nebbiolo aged in large casks. The family calls it a cornerstone of the cellar and one of its most requested wines since they began bottling. The grapes come from 15–20-year-old vines on a southwest-facing slope at about 400 meters, on limestone-rich marl soils, all within the Barbaresco area. After gentle destemming and a 10-day temperature-controlled fermentation with malolactic, the wine ages for a year in large French oak casks (botti). Only about 8,000 bottles are made each year. Tasting notes: Ruby red with garnet hints. The nose shows classic Nebbiolo perfume: rose and violet, red currant and raspberry, with black pepper, tobacco, and a touch of cocoa. The palate is elegant and savory, with mineral freshness, warmth and depth, and finely polished tannins.
