Rico Nuevo Cebreros Garnacha Jirón De Niebla is a single-parcel expression of Garnacha from the El Sotillo vineyard, north-facing old vines in the Sierra de Gredos at over 900 metres elevation on decomposed granite. Vines in this specific site average 77 years, some pre-phylloxera at more than 120, and the resulting wine shows the tension and lift that define high-altitude Garnacha from Cebreros. Juan Andrés Martín Pérez vinifies with 35% whole cluster in stainless steel, then ages the wine 18 months in concrete tanks and eggs with no fining or filtration, a treatment that amplifies the mineral signature of the granite soils without adding weight. Rico Nuevo Viticultores is a fifth-generation family project in Burgohondo, Alto Alberche Valley, named for Juan's great-grandfather Felipe, whose nickname was Rico Nuevo. The estate farms 12 hectares organically and biodynamically across more than 40 micro-parcels between 900 and 1,050 metres, each one a distinct patchwork of elevation, exposure, and soil depth atop the ancient granite bedrock that defines the north face of the Gredos range. The 2021 vintage marks one of the estate's most focused single-parcel bottlings, the Jirón de Niebla drawn entirely from old, north-facing Garnacha in El Sotillo, a site whose cool microclimate preserves acidity and floral lift even in warm years. The wine opens with red cherry, cranberry, and raspberry, layered with violet, black licorice, anise, and cacao, a floral and spice-driven profile that is the signature of Gredos Garnacha. On the palate it is bright and juicy, the fruit core framed by taut, unobtrusive tannins and knife-edge acidity, finishing long with a savory, earthy minerality that tastes like the granite it grows on.
