2013 Chateau Belle-Vue La Renaissance
$55.00
From the mountains of Bhamdoun, Lebanon, comes one of the Levant's most quietly compelling wines. Château Belle-Vue is the passion project of Naji and Jill Boutros, who returned from London in 1999 to revive Naji's ancestral village and plant vines at 3,200 feet in the Mount Lebanon range. La Renaissance is their Bordeaux-style blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon — aged patiently before release and shaped by a terroir of limestone, altitude, and Mediterranean sun. Expect ripe plum and black currant layered with dark chocolate, mountain herbs, and a subtle savory minerality that's distinctly Lebanese. The tannins are polished, the structure elegant, and there's a depth here that rewards a slow pour. Open early, decant, and let it tell you where it's from. A serious bottle with a serious story — and a window into one of the oldest, most fascinating winemaking regions on earth.
