Patrick Bringer and Isabelle Georgelin left Paris behind after two decades as booksellers and settled in Asquins, a small village in the Yonne department of northern Burgundy where Isabelle now serves as mayor. The estate farms 6 hectares of certified organic Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and notably, the entire village of Asquins is certified organic, meaning no chemicals or pesticides are permitted anywhere in the commune. The wine takes its name from Muse, the couple's dog, who had an uncanny ability to sniff out organic vines from treated ones. Le Nez de Muse is 100% Chardonnay sourced from vines at the top of a limestone and clay hillside, fermented on indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and bottled without fining or filtration. The cool northern climate of Vézelay keeps the wines refreshing and precise, with lemon, baked pear, white peach, and a delicate floral lift on the nose, and a palate that is crisp, mineral, and quietly expressive with a refreshing tension and clean finish. This is an honest, characterful Burgundy white that overdelivers for its price.
