Louise Benoit Mâcon-Villages 2022

$30.00 · Sold out
Louise Benoit Mâcon-Villages 2022 is a sustainably farmed Chardonnay from southern Burgundy that blends fruit from three villages in the Mâconnais—Viré, Péronne, and Verzé—where rolling limestone hills give wines both warmth and mineral precision. Crafted by Stéphane and Lucie Guillemin of Domaine Creusserome, this cuvée draws from parcels between twenty and forty-five years old, each too small for individual bottling but together forming a complete portrait of the appellation. The 2022 vintage captures the balance that makes white Burgundy a global benchmark, with the chalky soils of the Mâconnais lending structure beneath ripe fruit. The Guillemins farm sustainably across the rolling southern edge of Burgundy, where the climate is warmer and the limestone bedrock runs deep. The Mâconnais has long been Burgundy's most accessible source of serious Chardonnay, and Domaine Creusserome exemplifies the region's modern wave—small growers bottling precise, village-level wines with minimal intervention. Fermentation and aging are handled carefully to preserve both the richness of the fruit and the lift that comes from the chalky minerality of the vineyard sites. The result is a wine that bridges the generosity of southern Burgundy with the elegance the region is known for. The nose opens with white flowers, ripe pear, and stone fruit, followed by a palate that layers orchard fruit richness with the mineral backbone of limestone terroir. There's a quiet intensity here—creamy yet lifted, round yet structured, with a long, elegant finish that lingers without weight. The wine is versatile enough to serve as an aperitif but has the substance to pair with roast chicken, seared scallops, grilled fish, or creamy cheeses like Comté or triple-crème. This is textbook southern Burgundy Chardonnay—approachable, sophisticated, and a reminder that the Mâconnais remains one of the region's most exciting sources of value and authenticity.
