Mâconnais, Burgundy – Sustainable Farming From the rolling limestone hills of southern Burgundy, Louise Benoit Mâcon-Villages captures the warm generosity and mineral finesse that define this corner of the region. Crafted by Stéphane and Lucie Guillemin of Domaine Creusserome, this cuvée blends fruit from mature Chardonnay vines (20–45 years old) in the villages of Viré, Péronne, and Verzé—tiny parcels too small for individual bottlings, but together forming a beautifully complete expression of the Mâconnais. Sustainably farmed and vinified with care, Louise Benoit shows the balance that makes white Burgundy so beloved. The nose opens with white flowers, ripe pear, and stone fruit, followed by a round, supple palate layered with orchard fruit richness and the chalky minerality that speaks of its limestone soils. There’s a quiet intensity here—creamy yet lifted, with a long, elegant finish. Versatile and inviting, this is a textbook southern Burgundy Chardonnay—perfect as an aperitif or alongside roast chicken, seafood, or creamy cheeses. A wine that bridges approachability and sophistication, it’s a reminder that the Mâconnais remains one of Burgundy’s most exciting sources of value and authenticity.
