Vigneti Prosecco
$18.00 · Sold out
Vigneti Prosecco is made from 100% Glera grapes grown in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, using the Charmat method that defines the category. Unlike sparkling wines that undergo secondary fermentation in the bottle, this Prosecco ferments a second time in stainless steel tanks under pressure, preserving the fresh, primary fruit character and delicate bubbles the style is known for. It's a straightforward everyday sparkling wine built for immediate drinking rather than cellaring, typically consumed within a year or two of release. The wine comes from Veneto, the historic heartland of Prosecco production in Italy's northeast. The Charmat process, also called the Martinotti method, was developed specifically to protect the bright apple-and-pear aromatics that define Glera. By completing fermentation in pressurized tanks rather than individual bottles, the winemaking preserves those primary fruit notes and produces a lighter, more delicate mousse than traditional-method sparkling wines. The result is a pale straw-yellow wine with fine, persistent perlage and the clean, uncomplicated profile that has made Prosecco a global benchmark for accessible sparkling wine. The nose leads with green apple, ripe pear, and white peach, often accented by soft floral notes of acacia or honeysuckle. On the palate, Vigneti Prosecco is crisp and light-bodied, with bright acidity, a touch of natural sweetness in the typical Extra Dry style, and a clean, refreshing finish. It's food-friendly in the broadest sense: shellfish, cured meats, light appetizers, and fresh fruit all work. Serve it well-chilled, around 40 to 45 degrees, at aperitivo hour, brunch, or as a base for spritzes and other Prosecco cocktails. In stock at Off Premise in Lincoln Park.
