FAQ

What does the $1,499 setup fee cover?
The team personally onboards your shop: connecting your POS, importing your catalog, setting up branding (colors, fonts, photos), pointing your domain at the new site, configuring DoorDash Drive if applicable, and walking you through the dashboard. Most shops are live in 5 business days from the moment we get POS credentials.
Is there a contract or commitment?
No contract. Cancel anytime. The setup fee is one-time; monthly is month-to-month. We also offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on the setup fee — if you decide it's not right for your shop in the first month, you get the setup money back.
What if I don't already use Square?
Today we ship full Square integration — that's where the depth is. If you're on Clover, Toast, or Lightspeed, get on the waitlist anyway and tell us which POS in the form. We prioritize the next integration based on which platforms our waitlist actually has shops on. If you're leaving Shopify, that's a different story — read our Shopify migration page.
Are there transaction fees on top of monthly?
No transaction fees from Standalone. You'll continue to pay Square's standard processing rates (which you're already paying). We're not in the payment processing business.
What if I need a feature you don't have?
Get in touch. If it's a reasonable feature most shops would benefit from, it goes on the roadmap. If it's specific to your shop, the Custom tier handles bespoke work. The whole product was built in response to running an actual indie retail business and finding existing platforms inadequate — feature requests from real shop owners are welcomed across verticals.
How many shops can I run?
One shop per Standalone subscription. Multi-location operators (chain or sister shops) should look at the Custom tier — Square treats locations differently and the integration needs to handle that explicitly.
Why is this priced higher than Shopify?
Shopify is a generalist tool that doesn't actually integrate with Square — your inventory data lives in two places and someone has to bridge them. Standalone is purpose-built for the Square shop owner workflow, with features (subscriptions, fulfillment routing, gift concierge, etc.) that Shopify charges $300+/month for via apps. The math usually favors Standalone if you compare apples to apples.
Can I see it in action before I commit?
Yes — offpremisechicago.com is a working indie bottle shop running on Standalone. Click around. How it works walks through the major features. And if you're seriously considering, we'll hop on a 20-minute call to show you the admin side.
