G4 Blanco Tequila

$40.00
G4 Blanco Tequila is Felipe Camarena's unaged expression from his family distillery in the highlands of Jalisco, bottled at NOM 1579 in Jesús María. What sets this blanco apart is the use of collected rainwater in distillation, a rare choice that brings pronounced minerality and a distinctly forward aromatic profile to the spirit. Camarena's work with G4 has earned a cult following among tequila enthusiasts in Chicago and beyond for its commitment to traditional methods and transparent production. The Camarena family grows estate Blue Weber agave in the red volcanic soil of the Los Altos highlands, where cooler nights and higher elevation yield fruit with more structure and spice than lowland agaves. The piñas are slow-roasted in traditional stone ovens, then crushed and fermented with wild yeasts before double distillation in copper pot stills. The rainwater distillation is not a gimmick—it's softer than well water, allowing the agave's natural pepper, butter, and subtle smoke to come through without mineral interference during the cut. Every bottle is a transparent snapshot of highland terroir and the Camarena family's four-generation expertise. The palate is spicy and peppery with a silky texture that coats the mouth, followed by buttery richness and faint smoky undertones that hint at the stone oven. There's a slight warming heat on the finish, but it never overpowers the true agave character. This is a blanco built for sipping neat or over a single large ice cube, though it has enough complexity to anchor a margarita or paloma without disappearing. Pair it with ceviche, grilled octopus, or anything with lime and salt to let the minerality and spice shine.
