G4 Tequila

Felipe Camarena's family distillery. Rainwater, stone ovens, cult following.

G4 Tequila

Why we carry them

G4 is one of the most quietly important tequila brands in the United States. The "G4" name stands for four generations — distilled at the family's El Pandillo Distillery (NOM 1579) in Jesús María, Jalisco, by fourth-generation master distiller Felipe Camarena. Felipe and his family are widely respected within the tequila industry for clean, additive-free production: stone ovens, modern milling, traditional fermentation, and — most distinctively — distillation using rainwater collected on the property. There's a cult following around El Pandillo for good reason.

The expressions

  • Blanco — minerality and forward aroma from rainwater distillation. Silky texture; spicy, peppery, smooth, with buttery and smoky elements.
  • Reposado — the family's rested expression. 22-hour stone-oven cook, then time in oak.
  • Blanco 108 Proof — twice-distilled in copper, bottled at full proof. Cooked agave, black pepper, cinnamon, citrus. (OOS)
  • Blanco de Madera 2024 — first use of wood fermentation at El Pandillo. Limited, hand-numbered lots. (OOS)
  • Añejo · Special XM Edition · 108 Proof — additional limited releases.

The Camarena family

The Camarena name shows up across the tequila industry. Felipe runs G4. Cascahuín (NOM 1123) — often grouped with G4 in traditionalist circles — is the lowland sibling distillery, but it's actually run by the Rosales family in El Arenal, not the Camarenas. The two families share generations of Jalisco industry overlap, and tasting G4 next to Cascahuín is a master class in how a shared traditionalist philosophy reads differently in highland vs. lowland terroir.
