Cascahuín Tequila

The Rosales family's lowland tequila — three generations in El Arenal.

Why we carry them

Cascahuín is the Rosales family's lowland-Jalisco distillery in El Arenal (NOM 1123) — three generations of tequila-makers building bottles in honor of their founder, Salvador Rosales Briseño. Where their cousins at G4 (NOM 1579) make highland tequila, Cascahuín works the opposite end of the spectrum: lowland Jalisco, with its hotter climate, mineral soil, and more aggressive agave character. The lineup — Blanco, Tahona Blanco, 48 Plata, Reposado — covers the major styles a serious tequila drinker would want to taste from one estate.

The lineup

  • Tequila Blanco — 100% Agave Tequilana Weber from El Arenal. The everyday Cascahuín bottle.
  • 48 Plata — undiluted, unfiltered, bottled at 48% ABV. Production lots not exceeding 2,500 liters. (OOS)
  • Tahona Blanco — 100% juice extraction by tahona stone (the pre-Hispanic crush method). Reaffirms the sweet flavor of Tequilana Weber. (OOS)
  • Reposado — 6-8 months in well-worn American oak, traditional stone-oven roasting, copper pot distillation. (OOS)

The Camarena / Rosales connection

Cascahuín and G4 are family-linked: Felipe Camarena (G4 master distiller) and the Rosales family share generations of intermarriage in the Jalisco tequila industry. Tasting Cascahuín against G4 is one of the most instructive flights you can do in our store — same family philosophy, opposite ends of the lowland-vs-highland terroir spectrum.
